SOMETHING THAT WILL LAST

When I fall and all is black,
nowhere to run
I feel me going round and round again
I see you know
Oh you know

Something with you, something you do
Please tell me something that will last

I give you all my words of hope
like broken glass
I hear your dreams walk away
Is it today?
Blown away

Something with you, something you do
Please tell me something that will last

Its fine, don't mind
that much
I swear, who cares
not me
your smile is dangerous to see

Can you save a lonely heart
won't you take my hand
I walk on the edge
don't let me fall
take it all

Something with you, something you do
Please tell me something that will last

Its fine, don't mind
that much
I swear, who cares
not me
your smile is dangerous to see

When I fall and all is black,
nowhere to run
I feel me going round and round again
I see you know
Oh you know

Something with you, something you do
Please tell me something that will last

When I fall and all is black
When I fall and all is black
When I fall and all is black

I really like this song. It has a cool sound reminiscent of the 90’s IMO. I think it could use some better drum programming particularly on the “it’s fine don’t mind” bridge part where the drums seem to be empty and get buried.

I find myself wanting more lyrical depth after listening several times. It feels like you’re being purposefully vague which I understand because I think a good lyric is sometimes one that doesn’t say anything obnoxious but I wish at some point there was a line or two that really would stick with me.

I like your vocal delivery and timbre. The chord changes and musical mood swings are refreshing. Good job

You really nailed the problems both in the music and the words. Thanks so much. The ideas you mention are where I am still having problems as a composer. I really want to bring my music and words to the next level, so your input is just what I needed to understand. Thanks so much for you time and great feedback.

I really dig this song. Music reminds me of Nirvana. Vocals remind me of the Beatles!!!

You have a very unique quality in your vocals! Emotional nuances in your delivery make it special. Like the delivery of “Is it today.”

I may be wrong here but it seems like some of the lyrics are only for the sake of the rhyme. I was amazed the first time I wrote a song with no rhyme (purposely) and how it really didn’t seem to matter. Actually, better because I said exactly what I wanted to say. I’m going for quality of content now and if I can work in a rhyme here and there, great! Just develop your story and say what you want to say. The rest will work itself out.

I really like the melody and the overall vibe of this song. The music you created is a great expression of where you are going lyrically with a somewhat anxious desperation. Great job! Keep em coming!

    Thanks Bob,

I really like your ideas about rhyme. It was great to read that and I’m really going with your thought on my latest work. You’ll get a big thanks for the release CD 🙂

Your words really helped me to be a lot better with my writing!
