Understanding analytics: overview, audience and statistics

How are your listener numbers developing? Where are your fans? And what has happened around your music lately? The Analytics area answers exactly these questions – split into the tabs Overview, Audience, Statistics, Releases, Marketing and Websites.

Open analytics

  1. 1Open the Analytics area in the navigation. You land on the Overview.
  2. 2Use the tabs at the top to switch between the views.
  3. 3With the filters you set the Period (7 days, 30 days, 90 days, 12 months or All), the Platform and – where it fits – the Release.
Note: Analytics is part of the Premium plan; the 30-day trial includes everything. If the area isn't unlocked for you, you see "Unlock analytics & statistics" and can turn it on with an upgrade. More in the article on Subscription & billing.

Overview: the essentials at a glance

  • Streams and Website visits as big numbers with a trend and a comparison with the previous period.
  • From visit to stream – how many page views and clicks on release pages add up.
  • Your fans – your fanbase per platform. "Share as card" lets you share a number as an image on social media.
  • What's happening – new playlists, chart positions, videos and shorts with your music.
  • Where your audience is – chart positions by country and monthly listeners by city.

Audience: fans and views per platform

Here you see fans and views for each platform on its own – Artistnest doesn't add anything up, because every platform counts differently. All, Streaming and Social narrow down the platforms. "Real numbers" shows the actual values, "Comparison (start = 100)" shows how fast the platforms grow relative to each other.

Statistics: numbers, trends and origin

The Statistics tab brings together the key figures of your music:

  • The trend of a metric – for example Total streams, Total followers, Monthly listeners or Popularity – for the platform selected at the top.
  • Short cards like Top track, Top city and Top playlist.
  • Top platforms – the most important figures of each platform side by side.
  • Audience – where your music is listened to, as a map and as a list.

Releases: numbers for one release

Pick a Release at the top. You then see the Clicks per provider on your release page, the statistics for the individual tracks and the activity around this release – such as new playlists or chart positions.

Marketing: your campaigns

This is where the spend, reach and results of your ad campaigns are. As long as you haven't started a campaign yet, the tab takes you to the campaigns.

Websites: visits and clicks

Pick a website or page at the top. You see how often it was visited and which links were clicked. Only visits from fans who agree to statistics in the cookie notice are counted – so the number is more of a lower bound. If you see a zero here, nobody opened your page in the selected period; it's a real zero, not an error.

Tips

  • Watch trends rather than single values: Set the Period to 90 days or 12 months – the direction says more than a single day.
  • New numbers need a few days: For freshly connected platforms the trend reads "Trend available from …". From then on you see the history.
  • Use your audience for marketing: Promote releases and plan concerts where the map shows your biggest audience.
