Getting started: create your account, create your artist and publish your website
Welcome to Artistnest! This article walks you through your start: from your account to creating your artist and the first launch, all the way to your published website. Artistnest pulls in your releases, dates and profiles by itself – you don't have to type anything in.
Step 1: Create your account (sign-in by link)
You don't need a password – Artistnest signs you in with a link sent to your email inbox.
- 1Open the "Create account" page.
- 2Enter your email address and briefly confirm that you're not a bot.
- 3Click "Create account – 30 days free".
- 4Open your inbox and click the confirmation link.
Note: We're still activating new accounts by hand. As soon as your account is activated, you sign in with the link and can get started.
Step 2: Create your artist
After your first sign-in, "Let's set up your artist" appears.
- 1Type your name into the "Artist name" field. Artistnest searches for you on Spotify while you type.
- 2Pick yourself from the results with a click – the profile picture and follower count help you find the right entry. Artistnest only imports your releases through this choice.
- 3For your first artist we also ask "What should we call you?" – that's how we address you in personal emails.
- 4Confirm that you're authorized to represent this artist and click "Create artist".
You then watch your website being built: Artistnest sets it up and adds your releases, dates and social profiles. Everything stays private until you publish it yourself.
Note: We can only find dates if you're listed in a concert directory – otherwise you add them yourself. You add another artist later via My account → "Add artist".
Your address in the form your-name.artistnest.com is created automatically from your name. You can change it later under Websites → Domains.
Step 3: The first launch in four steps
Right after creating your artist, the first launch takes you through four short steps. At the top you always see where you are.
- 1Goal – "What’s coming up next for you?" Pick for example "A release is coming", "I’m playing live / touring", "Reach more fans" or "Just look around". We then tailor your dashboard; you can change this at any time.
- 2Found – "Here’s what we found": your releases, dates, images and videos, and your profiles. If a profile is wrong, fix it with "Not right?". Anything still missing is fetched in the background.
- 3Website – "Your website is set up": a preview built from your releases and the colors of your cover. "Customize it in the editor now" takes you straight to the editor.
- 4Let’s go – "All set": suggestions for your next steps that fit your goal – for example "Create a release page with pre-save". "Go to dashboard" takes you on.
Nothing leaves Artistnest without your click: no going live, no email to fans, no post, no ad.
Step 4: Publish your website
Your website starts out private – only you can see it. When you're ready, click "Publish website…" at the top of the editor. The flow takes you through Review, Legal notice, Data processing agreement and Live; anything already done is skipped. We ask for the legal notice and the data processing agreement right here – you don't have to deal with them before. More in the Website & editor article.
Create more pages
Besides your website, you can create separate pages under your address. Open Websites and click "Create page":
- "Create link page" – a link-in-bio page for your profile.
- "Create release page" – one address per release that leads to every streaming service.
- "Create live page" – a page for concerts and tours.
Tips for a good start
- Pick yourself from the results with a click. That's the only way your profile and releases are imported correctly.
- Take a close look at the "Found" step. You fix a wrongly matched profile there with one click.
- Publish when it's right. Your website stays private until you click "Publish website…" yourself.
