Imprint & privacy policy: legal texts for your website

If your website is publicly reachable, you usually need an imprint (legal notice) and a privacy policy. For this, Artistnest provides dedicated legal pages that you maintain centrally and that are automatically reachable through your website – including a generator that prepares a suitable draft for you. That way you meet your information obligations without having to deal with the technical side.

Note: This article, the generator and Artistnest are no substitute for legal advice. Exactly which details you need depends on your situation. The generated texts are a recommendation/template – if in doubt, have them reviewed by a legal professional.

Where you maintain the legal texts

1. 1Sign in to Artistnest.
2. 2Open the Websites area and switch to the Imprint & privacy policy tab.
3. 3At the top, you see the generator, and below it the editor with two areas: one for the Imprint and one for the Privacy policy.

Your legal texts apply across the artist: you maintain them once, and they're available for all websites under this artist profile.

Create legal texts with the generator

1. 1Click Generate imprint & privacy policy at the top.
2. 2The generator automatically detects which features and services you use and puts together a suitable draft from that.
3. 3Add your individual details (e.g. name and address) and transfer the text into the editor fields.

You can then adjust the generated text by hand at any time.

Enter or adjust the imprint and privacy policy

1. 1In the Imprint field, enter your mandatory details (e.g. name, address and a way to contact you – the specific requirements can vary depending on the case). You can format the text with Markdown. Click Save imprint.
2. 2In the Privacy policy field, enter your privacy text (Markdown works here too) and click Save privacy policy.

View the public pages

With View public page, you open the respective page as it appears publicly.

Your legal texts are publicly reachable at:

• Imprint: /p/imprint
• Privacy policy: /p/privacy

That way you can link to these pages directly in your website's footer or elsewhere.

Tips

• Use the generator as a starting point: It takes care of the structure for you; you add your individual details afterwards.
• Keep the texts up to date: If your contact details or processes change, update the imprint and privacy policy promptly.
• Have them reviewed if in doubt: You're responsible for the content of your legal texts yourself – if you're unsure, have them checked by an expert.
