Set up your newsletter and collect sign-ups
Your fans are your most valuable asset – and a mailing list of your own belongs to you, regardless of algorithms and platforms. With a newsletter, you reach your community directly in their inbox: for new releases, concert dates or milestones.
In Artistnest, you connect your newsletter tool (Brevo or Mailchimp) and collect sign-ups on your website directly into your list. You send your newsletters as usual from your Brevo or Mailchimp account. Your contacts stay in your own tool.
What's included in which plan
- From Pro: Connect your newsletter tool, collect sign-ups and see the number of your subscribers.
Step 1: Connect your newsletter tool
- 1In Artistnest, open Settings → Connections.
- 2Click Add integration at the top and paste your API key into the newsletter field. Artistnest recognizes from the key whether it comes from Brevo or Mailchimp:
- No account yet? Both providers have a free tier; the links to sign up and to the key page are right in the add window.
- Brevo: You'll find the key in Brevo under *SMTP & API → API Keys* (it starts with
xkeysib-). - Mailchimp: You'll find the key in Mailchimp under *Account → Extras → API keys* (it ends in e.g.
-us21).
- 3Click Connect.
Exactly one newsletter tool is connected at a time. If you paste the key of the other provider, Artistnest asks before replacing the current one.
Step 2: Setup – most of it happens automatically
After connecting, Artistnest sets up everything that's needed:
- List: You pick an existing list (the largest one is suggested) or create a new one with one click. On the free Mailchimp plan, Artistnest uses your existing list.
- Fields: Artistnest creates the fields that let each sign-up carry its origin (e.g. website, pre-save, live page, city).
- Double opt-in: With Mailchimp, Mailchimp handles the confirmation email. With Brevo, Artistnest creates the confirmation email; for that, your Brevo account needs a verified sender. If something is missing, Artistnest shows you the step with a direct link in Brevo.
After that, the connection shows a line like "Connected to Brevo · List 'Fans' · Double opt-in active". With Change, you switch the list or set it up again.
Step 3: Collect sign-ups
Once everything is set up, fans can sign up in several places:
- in the newsletter section of your website,
- in the footer of your pages,
- during a Pre-save,
- on your live page ("Let me know when I play near you").
You can turn off the sign-up points in the footer, during the pre-save and on the live page individually under Settings → Connections in the newsletter area. Each sign-up goes directly into your newsletter tool; the fan confirms it by email (double opt-in). Artistnest stores a record of consent for each sign-up – Artistnest doesn't store a fan list of its own.
Good to know: If your Mailchimp audience requires mandatory fields (e.g. first name), every sign-up through your website fails. Artistnest shows you this on the connection – then set the fields to "optional" in Mailchimp.
Tips for more sign-ups
- Say what fans get. A specific description like "Get updates on new releases and concerts" works better than a bare sign-up form.
- Place the section where it's visible. A newsletter section close to your music or tour dates catches fans at the right moment.
- Test the sign-up yourself. After publishing, enter your own address once and check whether the confirmation email arrives.
