Release pages (smart links): one address for every streaming service

A release page (called a "smart link" on other platforms) is a dedicated public page for exactly one release – an album, a single or a compilation. Instead of sending your fans to just one streaming service, you bundle all the links on one page: Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer and more. Your audience lands on your page and chooses where they want to play your music. You share one link – every platform is within reach.

In this guide, we show you step by step how to manage your releases in Artistnest, maintain the streaming links and turn them into a finished release page that you publish.

Step 1: Find your releases – imported automatically or created in advance

In the dashboard, open the Releases area. Here you see your complete catalog as a table with cover, release name, type (album, single, compilation, feature), year and tracks. With the filter bar at the top, you can search for releases or tracks and filter by type, status (published/draft) or year.

There are two ways a release gets into this list:

Imported automatically. As soon as your streaming connection is set up, your published releases appear in the list on their own. With the Import from Spotify button at the top right, you can trigger the sync manually at any time, for example right after a new release. For these releases, name, date, release type and cover are taken directly from your streaming platform – they're maintained there and deliberately can't be changed in Artistnest, so your details always stay correct. The Update from Spotify button fills in missing details – anything already entered stays unchanged.

Create in advance manually. Want to prepare a page before the release? Click New release at the top right. A short window asks for the name, type and release date – the date is pre-filled with the next Friday, the usual release day, and both can be changed later at any time. Then the new release opens with its details. A self-created upcoming release can be edited freely: you set the name, release date, release type and preview image yourself. As soon as your release is out and detected automatically, the details are taken over.

Tip: If you set a future date on a published upcoming release, your page is already reachable while the streaming links aren't filled in yet.

Step 2: Maintain streaming links

  1. 1In the releases list, click Links (the pencil icon) in your release's row. A window opens with the link overview for exactly this release.
  2. 2Use Search links automatically to have matching streaming links found and added automatically.
  3. 3Add missing platforms by hand: Add link creates a new row, where you choose the provider from the list (or "Custom …" for your own platform) and enter the Link. The Public checkbox controls which links are visible on your page.
  4. 4Click Save all to apply your changes.

In the releases list, you'll then see small provider icons right in the release row – so you can tell at a glance which platforms are already linked and public.

Step 3: Create a release page

There are two convenient ways – both lead to the same result:

Directly from the releases list. In the Release page column, a release without a page shows the Release page button – one click creates it and opens it in the editor. If the release page already exists, the same column shows its address, the number of clicks and two icons instead: one copies the address, the other opens the editor.

Via the Websites area. Open the Websites area and, there, the Release pages section. Click Create release page and pick the release. The selection shows the cover, type and year and notes for each release whether it already has a release page – so you don't accidentally create a second one.

On the page you've created, you decide what the individual part of your page's web address should be. It belongs to the release page itself and can be changed there at any time.

Step 4: Publish

In the Websites area, in the Release pages section, you'll find every release page you've created in the overview. With the row actions you can Open editor and use Preview to view the public page in a new tab; pages you no longer need can also be deleted here.

You control visibility with the Live/Private switch: in the releases list, you switch each release to live or private individually – the change takes effect immediately. As soon as your page is live, you can copy the public link from the preview and share it.

Step 5: Measure success with analytics

There are two different numbers here, and they're in two places.

Clicks on your release page are shown right in the releases list, in the Release page column next to the address. That's the number that tells you how often someone opened the address you shared.

Streaming numbers for the release are behind the chart icon in the same row. Those are the plays on the streaming services – not the clicks on your link.

Note: There are no streaming analytics yet for a release that hasn't come out – in that case, the chart icon is hidden so you don't see an empty report.

Tips

  • Plan before the release: Create an upcoming release early and prepare the page. That way everything is ready on release day.
  • Combine the automatic search with handwork: First let the automatic link search pre-fill the links, then add the platforms that are still missing.
  • One link for everything: Since your release page fills up with the streaming links after the release, you can share the same link before and after the release.
