Website & editor: sections, design and publishing
With the website editor you build your artist website from ready-made sections, adjust colors and fonts, and publish it when you're ready. This article shows you how to open the editor, edit sections, adjust the design and publish your website.
Open the website editor
- 1In the dashboard, open the Websites area.
- 2Find the website or page you want to edit in the table.
- 3Click Editor in that row.
The editor has three columns: the Sections on the left, the Preview in the middle and the Design on the right. On your phone, you switch between the three with the tabs at the top.
The very top tells you where your website stands – for example "Private · only you can see it" or "Live at …" with your address. Next to it you'll find Share (copy the link or show a QR code), Save and the button for publishing.
Saving
You save your changes with Save. If you leave the editor with unsaved changes, Artistnest asks first. Undo and Redo take single steps back or forward.
If your website is already live, fans don't see saved changes right away: the top then reads "Live · changes not visible yet". They only go online with "Publish changes".
Add, edit and arrange sections
Your website is made up of individual sections. The header and footer are fixed and always included. You add all other sections yourself.
Add a section
- 1In the left column, scroll to the Add area.
- 2Click the section you want, for example Hero, Release, Releases, Live dates, Videos, Embed, Spotify player, Bio, Gallery, Merch, Links, Newsletter, Social links, EPK / press or Contact. The section goes at the end of the page.
Edit a section
- 1Click the section in the section list – or click it right in the preview.
- 2Fill in the fields, depending on the section for example heading, text or button.
- 3Your entries appear instantly in the Preview.
Arrange and remove sections
- Move up and Move down move a section. The order in the list is the order on your website.
- With the action menu on a section you can Duplicate or remove it.
Preview
The preview in the middle shows your current draft ("Preview: draft"). Desktop and Phone switch between the views. If your website is live, View website opens the public page in a new tab; in the Websites table you can also use Preview.
Adjust colors and fonts
You control the look in the right-hand Design column:
- Colors: Pick a ready-made palette with one click or set Background, Text and Accent yourself. "Adjust individual colors" takes you into the details, and "Read from an image or cover" takes the colors from an image or your cover. The editor also shows you readability hints.
- Fonts: Use one font for headings and text, or set both separately. "Upload your own font" lets you use your own font.
- Address & domain: shows your website's public address and leads to domain management.
Name, language and search engines
In your website's settings (the General area) you set:
- Name – also shown as the page title on Google. Keep it short (32 characters at most).
- 404 page text – the note shown when a page can't be found.
- Website language – the language of your website's menu, footer and the description for search engines. Your own texts aren't translated.
Under Websites, the "On search engines" area shows whether Google & co. can find your website. "Verify with Google" registers it with Google.
Publish your website
Saving doesn't publish anything: your website stays private until you publish it yourself.
- 1Click "Publish website…" at the top of the editor.
- 2The flow walks you through whatever is still missing: Review, Legal notice, Data processing agreement and Live. Anything already done is skipped.
- 3In the last step your website is online. "Copy link" lets you share it right away.
Note: The legal notice, privacy policy and data processing agreement are asked for right here – you don't have to deal with them before.
If you want to take your website offline later, you'll find that under More actions at the top of the editor.
Tips
- Double-check on your phone: Switch the preview to Phone – most fans visit your page on mobile.
- Palette first, then the fine-tuning: Pick a palette as a starting point first, then adjust individual colors.
- Keep the name short: Your website's name is also its title on Google.
